Oxylane Group (Decathlon Sporting Goods)
Description
Oxylane Group is the world’s largest vertically integrated sporting goods company, operating several store concepts including a hypermarket concept under the trade name Decathlon. In 2006 Oxylane began to close its Decathlon American operations. Based in France, Oxylane needed local market expertise to help market Decathlon’s Southern California real estate assets.
Challenges
Oxylane decided to sell two properties in Southern California during a downturn in the economy and real estate cycle. Institutional and traditional buyers for retail shopping centers were lacking in the marketplace.
Services Provided - Results
Samuels & Company provided brokerage and marketing representation for the sale of two properties. Samuels & Company marketed both properties to non-institutional buyers, selling one property to a high net worth individual, and the other to Kaiser Permanente. Over $20,000,000 of excess real estate was sold in this assignment.
